What kind of projects would a Global Communications Intern be involved in? Hear from ours, who's made a significant impact through her 6-month internship. Meet Sha Alzaaheir from Singapore, an adventure seeker who enjoys playing netball with colleagues after work!
From brainstorming campaign ideas and designing a survey to get traveler insights, to interviewing leaders as part of developing feature articles, Sha has tried her hand at what an in-house communications team does.
Inspired by her go-getting spirit and active involvement in activities organized by our Klook Singapore office, we caught up with her for a glimpse into her #LifeatKlook experience.
Was there a memorable project that stood out to you other than your daily tasks?
On top of my day-to-day work, I had the chance to lead and develop a case study on a current affair, one month into my internship. My manager James explained that it's important for communicators to share learnings based on what is happening in the industry. It was my first time tackling a case study like this from scratch, but I received great advice from my team on how to structure my slides and present my content effectively.
Were there any unexpected or unique opportunities that arose during your internship that you didn't anticipate? How did you handle them?
A challenge I found daunting at first but managed with success was creating a video for an award submission. Before this, I'd only edited 2 videos for school projects. Video delivery is different in the corporate world, so I pushed myself to produce high-quality work. As I got into the flow — from scriptwriting to AI voiceover and video editing — all while learning these techniques through tutorial videos, I became comfortable with this growth opportunity. With helpful feedback from my team and the Global Creative team, I made revisions until the video's messaging was clear and effective.
Say Aloha to our Global Communications team!
What do you appreciate about #LifeatKlook?
At our workplace, everyone treats each other equally—no weird segregation or special treatment for managers or directors. From my very first day, I felt super welcomed and comfortable. The atmosphere is so open, warm, and friendly. We definitely work hard, but we play even harder. We even had a competitive netball game, and there's a friendly tournament coming up soon. Plus, our year-end party was a blast. We really know how to have fun here!
What are some key takeaways from your 6-month internship experience?
Seize every opportunity that comes your way, whether it's taking the initiative to work on a new project outside your assigned tasks or trying something completely new—it might just turn out to be your most accomplished endeavor.
Secondly, staying curious and being proactive in speaking up or asking questions is crucial. I seek feedback from my team whenever I'm unsure; their thoughts and ideas often inspire an even better idea when I add my own twist. An idea alone might be good, but when built upon together with the team, it becomes even better.
Sha even amped up the fun as a host of an Eid party in our Singapore office
Words of advice for future interns or fresh graduates?
Stay open-minded and be eager to learn. Always focus on the positives, even when facing challenging situations or tasks. Remember, your team is there to support you whenever you need help — they've got your back! The best way to learn is by giving it a shot and seeking feedback along the way. Don't worry, they won't bite!
