How Klookers celebrated wellness around the Klookiverse in 2023

October is synonymous with Wellness Month at Klook and we try to address this broad topic as meaningfully to our employees, and as holistically, as possible.

In conjunction with World Mental Health Day, we partnered with Intellect to deliver a webinar on Taking Ownership of Your Mental Health Needs, providing employees with foundational knowledge to be aware of their state of mental health, and how to support their colleagues. For the first time, we are also training a group of employee volunteers as ‘Mental Health First Aiders’ to provide a listening ear to those in need, and point them to additional resources or support needed.

Our offices left no stone unturned in organizing various wellness initiatives tailored to their local needs and preferences. Buckle up as we hopscotch from one office to another to uncover joyful ways Klookers commemorated Wellness Month!

Living the K-drama dream at a Jjimjilbang

Klookers in Ho Chi Minh City checked into Temple Leaf Spa Land for a full therapeutic Korean spa experience. “We first warmed ourselves up by soaking our feet in hot water while enjoying a little chitchat. Then some of us wandered around exploring the sauna rooms. We ended up spending what felt like 20 minutes or so sharing scary stories (the dim light in the dark hot sauna was the perfect vibe) and continued in the cold room, only to realize the room hadn't been turned on the whole time! Some of us found our haven in the aromatic room and decided to take a little nap there. All in all, it was a nice little break from work, being disconnected to connect with our colleagues,” reminisced Gia Ha, Social Media Marketing Manager.

Soak, steam, snooze – that sounds like an ideal retreat to us!

Picking up tennis skills

There’s always a first time for everything. For our team in Jakarta, acquiring tennis skills was no exception. During the two-hour class, they learned all the basics under the guidance of a coach. Andika Saputra, our Marketing Manager of Indonesia quipped, “Although it was very tiring, we should be healthy enough until wellness month next year thanks to this intensive break-a-sweat session!”

Sweet dreams are just a spray away

Insomnia no more! Each spritz of pillow mist promises to whisk us away to dreamland with its soothing aroma. We followed the scent and arrived at the Klook Singapore office. “I learned that relaxation is not just about the mind: it's also about creating the perfect atmosphere for peaceful slumber. This pillow mist workshop reminded me that a touch of fragrance can transform the way we sleep as I always struggle to sleep right away. Doing it with the team made it so much fun," said Loveline Cortez, HRIS & Reporting Manager.

Healthy treats to nourish our souls

Once in a while, Klookers love indulging in guilt-free treats. But instead of digging straight into pre-made healthy snacks, our crafty folks in Bangkok decided to take it up a notch with a yogurt parfait DIY session. “We created our own yogurt parfaits with a colorful variety of fruits, granola, and a drizzle of honey for a touch of sweetness. They were absolutely delicious and nutritious,” said Cartoon Bunma, Office Experience Associate, the mastermind behind all engaging activities in the Klook Bangkok office.

Relieving aches through the healing touch of the blind

For those of us who are often tethered to our work desks, a short massage session is much needed to relieve the tension in our bodies. Thankfully, we had blind communities with magic hands to provide ‘touch therapy’ for Klookers in Malaysia and Singapore. Their deft massaging skills not only loosened Klookers' muscle knots but also left them revitalized and ready to get through the rest of 2023 with renewed energy!

Giving 100% for cross-city cycling challenge through Guangdong

When we say Klookers love pushing boundaries, they don't just do it at work; they bring that spirit to their fitness challenges too! Several Klookers from the Shenzhen office formed a cycling club and collectively cycled through the city of Shenzhen on weekend mornings, all in preparation for a 200-kilometer cycling challenge, and they completed it with flying colors!

Brewing masterpieces with brush and paint

Over in Manila, Klookers unleashed their inner Van Gogh through canvas painting. With expert guidance, they created a masterpiece to take home, all while enjoying a fun and social atmosphere. It's the perfect way to unwind, express their creativity, and connect with colleagues!

Dress up and buddy up for Spooktober

Who says we can’t turn a trick-or-treat Halloween party into a social wellness affair? Our Hong Kong office made it possible! Vincent Ng, our General Counsel who dressed up as Anya from Spy x Family (spot him in a pink wig) said, “It was the best Halloween party ever! Great food and drinks. So many of us dressed up and we were in good company with our dogs and cats. Special shoutout to our Finance colleagues who took it to a whole new level with Alice in Wonderland costumes and make-up!"
