What will you do:

  • Objective is to build up and strengthen partnership with various DMOs (Destination Marketing Organizations e.g. tourism boards) in Japan. Potential partners include JNTO, prefectural, regional, city tourism organizations and also foreign DMOs with an office in Japan (e.g. Hong Kong Tourism Board, Singapore Tourism Board).
  • Independently develop and execute a sound partnership strategy for KLOOK with DMOs in Japan.
  • Core duties include all steps in the selling cycle:
    • Identify leads and establish contact with potential partners
    • Build rapport and understand what partners want to achieve
    • Research about partners and prepare for pitching materials
    • Pitch in person or through emails/ calls
    • Handle objections and close the deal
    • Work with internal teams to ensure high quality execution of partnership programs
    • Results reporting for partners  
  • Market intelligence: From different sources of information, keep track of anything that may affect our partners and quickly identify opportunities or threats. 
  • Networking: Join various business events to build up your own network of people who may help you in your job. 
  • Influence internal teams to support our partnership effort. Collaborate with internal teams to make sure partnership programs are beneficial to them and are carried out in the most efficient way. 
  • Internal management: Support the development and maintenance of a high-quality portfolio of attraction, tour, transportation and activity (Things To Do) products for Klook’s rapidly growing, global customer base.
  • Negotiation: Negotiate with partners to maximize Klook's interests while maintaining a strong relationship with partners. 
  • Thought leadership: Develop a strong understanding of the industry and an independent view of key issues concerning our partners. Be able to educate and influence them. Build up their trust in our professionalism. 
  • Public speaking: Speak at various events on behalf of Klook. 

What is required from you:

  • >8 years work experience, preferably with 2 years in selling, account management, and business development. 
  • Experience in the travel industry, especially in/with DMOs and OTAs are preferred but not required. 
  • Must be fluent in Japanese. Comfortable with verbal and written communication in English with
  • Strong communicator in both written and verbal form.
  • Mature and able to carry business conversation with senior management on the partner side. 
  • Confident, self-motivated and goal-oriented
  • Global-minded and comfortable working with people from different cultural backgrounds
  • A start-up attitude – highly collaborative with an entrepreneurial, roll-up-your sleeves attitude and not afraid of new challenges.
  • Willing to travel within Japan when possible (<25%)
